When light touches

A shining piece of jewellery draws a lot of attention to the body. I want to pull this quality away from the human body and adorn the space instead. This research topic originated from the fusion between my previous study ‘Interior Design’ and my current study ‘Object & Jewellery’.

I read the place in advance based on its visual qualities and architectural impact.

This includes physical aspects such as angles, materials and scale, but also intangible elements such as light and atmosphere. The space for which I make jewellery invites me to allow the qualities of brilliance, refractions and reflections to interact with the identity of this place.

The materials and methods that facilitate this dialogue, are able to transform light.

This creates mysterious auras that change the impact of their surroundings through their presence. In this way the newly created jewellery will embellish the space. Although I have deprived the jewellery of its classical body, the individual remains the recipient.
